10 Year Celtic Psalms Anniversary Concert and Launch of Celtic Pilgrims CIC
On Friday 2nd June 2023 there will be a cross community concert at 7:30pm at the Black Box, celebrating 10 Years of Celtic Psalms (Kiran Young Wimberly & The McGraths) and launching the new nonprofit Celtic Pilgrims CIC, dedicated to connecting communities through music.
Since 2013 Celtic Psalms has arranged Biblical Psalms to Irish and Scottish airs, along with the renowned traditional musician and producer Dónal O’Connor. In the last decade they have recorded four albums, traveled to the US on four tours, performed live on BBC and RTE national television and radio multiple times, shared their music at international conferences, sung in many intimate concerts in sacred and secular venues in Northern Ireland and the Republic, and were published by the global sacred music publisher GIA.
This event, sponsored generously by the Arts Council of Northern Ireland/The Lottery Fund, will also mark the start of something new: Celtic Pilgrims CIC, a nonprofit community interest company dedicated to connecting communities through music. The purpose of Celtic Psalms has always been to create sacred music in the traditional style and bring people together across community divides, and Celtic Pilgrims CIC will continue this work by intentionally hosting music events that are welcoming to all communities.
This very special evening will celebrate Celtic Psalms music of the last decade as well as the launch of Celtic Pilgrims CIC, beginning a new chapter of building bridges, promoting social healing, and finding common ground through the beauty, depth and power of music.
